Paulette Lokonya Sefu, Deputy Rapporteur at the National Commission for Human Rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, speaks about the need for policy and decision makers to prioritize key populations if we are to overcome the HIV epidemic.

Community-led initiatives such as those championed by UNDP’s #WeBelongAfrica programme are tackling the root causes - discriminatory laws and policies, and HIV-related criminalization. The goal is to foster more inclusive and equitable access to sexual and reproductive health services for key populations and LGBTI+ people, ultimately contributing to improved HIV outcomes.

The #WeBelongAfrica programme is a regional initiative that integrates two UNDP-led projects - the Inclusive Governance Initiative, supported by Sweden, and the Southern Africa Young Key Populations Inclusion Initiative, supported by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Mozambique.
